History of Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame

The Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame Foundation was established in January of 2010. After dialogue exploring the need for a Kentucky Veteran of the Year Award, it was determined that such a project of inducting only one veteran would be virtually impossible...hence the idea to form a Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame was brought to light since such a foundation did not exist in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  This was the motivation to create such an entity.

In the spring of 2012 a proposed bill was submitted to the Kentucky Senate and was passed by unanimous vote. The bill did not reach the House of  Representatives for their vote, so a new resolution will be re-submitted in very soon.

In the near future, the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame shall seek legislative authority to establish the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame and, with that, we hope to have support of veteran's service organizations and the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs in our quest to recognize the worthiest of veteran candidates.

On March 11 and 12, 2014 the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame celebrated it's inaugural Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremony @ the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort. Inducting 4 living Medal of Honor recipients, 20 Kentucky Veterans and 3 deceased Kentucky Veterans.

Miss America 2000, Heather French Henry spoke at the Gala Dinner on the first day. Secretary of State, Alison Lundergan Grimes spoke at the Induction ceremony on the second day. Dr. Edward Hughes, president of Gateway Community and Technical College also spoke at the induction ceremony on the second day.

On September 25th and 26th, 2015 the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame celebrated it's second Gala Dinner on Friday night and ceremony on Saturday. Both days were celebrated at the Frankfort Convention Center. Both days were spectacular and 25 Veterans were inducted. One deceased veteran, Bob Flick was inducted and represented by wife Sue and family.

The third annual KVHOF induction ceremony was held at the Frankfort Convention Center in Frankfort, KY on September 16th & 17th, 2016.

Great things are planned for the 4th annual celebration for KY Veterans on September 28th, 29th and 30th 2017 at the Frankfort Convention Center, Frankfort, Kentucky.

We received our 501 (c) 3 status January 2014.
